Why do some women pull their kids away from me because I have pink hair?

I am well spoken, clean, well groomed, 32 - but I have noticed that mothers in more expensive cosmpolitan areas look at me out of the corner of their eye and pull their children away from me! Why is this? Other times in supermarkets in the same area they will push right in front of me in line as if they can't see me.
