Is it possible to miss glaucoma in an eye exam?

I recently went to the hospital because I got eczema cream in my eye. I got examined because this was during the night at an A&E and she said that I was okay, but I read somewhere that hydrocortisone ointment can lead to glaucoma. Would an eye examination here in the UK miss something like glaucoma? Or is this unlikely? Especially when neither of us mentioned this during the examination.
